1. Vacation (Statutory vacation)

Setting

Standard for the United States

Accrual model

Typically defined by company policy โ€“ vacation is not federally mandated

Vacation period

Depends on the companyโ€™s vacation policy (often 01.01 โ€“ 31.12)

Annual quota

No national minimum standard โ€“ typically 10โ€“20 days depending on seniority

New employees

New employees typically accrue vacation proportionally during their first year of employment

Transfer

Depends on company policy and any applicable state regulations

Public holidays

Federal holidays can be loaded via the public holiday module

Vacation accrual is configured via the functional article: Vacation policy โ€“ monthly or annual accrual

2. Supplementary balances

Supplementary balances are used for additional days off beyond the companyโ€™s standard vacation policy.

โš ๏ธ FMLA leave and parental leave normally do not affect accrual of company PTO depending on policy. Unpaid leave may reduce accrual depending on company rules.

4. Sick leave

Sick leave can be managed either through a separate sick leave balance or as part of PTO, depending on the companyโ€™s policy.

5. Working hours and time registration

When selecting the United States, no time registration method is activated automatically.

The administrator must manually choose between:

  • Time registration without hour bank

  • Time registration with hour bank

โš ๏ธ The choice depends on whether working hours are accumulated as a balance or only documented.

Important

  • The standard setup is based on common practice in the United States.

  • Companies covered by collective agreements or specific internal policies must adjust the policies manually.
