Introduction to checking in and out of daily work hours

This article explains how to register your work hours by checking in and out in BitaBIZ – via the mobile app, Outlook app, or web.

The features you have access to (such as editing, job codes, and reminders) depend on your company's setup.

Guide to using check in and out

How to check in

Start by opening BitaBIZ – either the mobile app, in Outlook, or via our website.

Click the green "Check in" bar.

BitaBIZ suggests the current time as the start time.

If needed, enter a different start time.

Finish by clicking "Check in".

The date for the time registration can be changed if backdating is allowed.

How to check out

Open BitaBIZ.

The yellow bar lets you know that you are already checked in.

Click the yellow bar to check out.

BitaBIZ suggests the current time as the end time.

If needed, enter a different end time.

Finish by clicking "Check out".

Editing a time registration

To be able to edit a time registration, your company must allow this feature.

Click a registration in your calendar to edit it

When you edit a time registration, it will show when you made the change.

If there is an approval flow attached, the registration will be sent for approval again after editing.

Reminders and live view

Access to reminders depends on your company's setup.

Push message

If you forget to register your hours, you'll get a friendly reminder the next day.

You will only receive a message if the previous day was a workday and no absence was registered.

Live feed

When you check in via the app, a timer starts on your phone's home screen.

You can check out directly from your phone's home screen.

Team calendar

When you are checked in, your present status is shown in the team calendar.

When you check out, the status is removed.

Job codes, breaks, and payroll hours

Depending on your setup, you can:

  • Register on job codes

  • Have paid breaks automatically deducted

  • See if a registration has been processed for payroll

Do you have access to job codes?

When you make a time registration and have access to job codes, you select which job code the registration should be created on.

The last selected job code will be remembered for next time. You can use the search function if there are many job codes.

Own paid breaks?

If you have a self-paid break that falls within your work hours, it will be automatically deducted when you make a registration.

It will be shown on the time registration if the break has been deducted.

Are you paid by payroll hours?

Click a time registration in your calendar to see if it has been paid out.

Your registrations can be exported to Excel via My Registrations.

Alternative method: Check in/out via QR code

If your company uses the QR solution, employees can instead check in and out by scanning their personal QR code at a terminal in the workplace.

FAQ

I'm checked in but can't check out – what should I do?

If you can't see a “Check out” button, it's usually because your time registration method has been changed.

When you no longer have a registration method with check in/out (for example, if your company has changed the method in your policy), the button to check out will disappear – even if you previously checked in.

This means:

  • You can't check out yourself because the function is no longer active on your profile

  • This applies both in the app and on the web

What should you do?

Contact your manager or administrator, who can register your end time manually or correct your registration

If the change happened while you were checked in, it's not a bug – it's a result of the change in setup.
