Vacation period | Earning year: 01.06 – 31.05 (typical French vacation year) |

New hires | New employees usually earn 2.5 vacation days per month |

🔗 Vacation policy – monthly earning
2. Supplementary balances (Supplementary balance)
Supplementary balances are used for extra days off in addition to statutory vacation. These are not created automatically when selecting a country.
Typical supplementary balances in France may include:
Supplementary balance | Added in BitaBIZ |
RTT days (Réduction du Temps de Travail) | Yes |
Jours de congés supplémentaires (Extra leave days) | Yes |
Congés d’entreprise (Company leave days) | Yes |
Period, earning, and settlement depend on the company agreement. See functional
3. Other leave – Standard French leave types
The 'Other leave' module is used for long-term or special types of leave.
Type of leave | Affects vacation earning | Requires approval |
Congé maternité (Maternity leave) | No | Must be registered |
Congé paternité (Paternity leave) | No | Must be registered |
Congé parental (Parental leave) | Yes | Yes |
Congé sans solde (Unpaid leave) | Yes | Yes |
Congé pour événements familiaux (Family leave / Special events) | No | Yes |
Maternity and paternity leave usually do not affect vacation earning in France. Unpaid leave may reduce vacation earning depending on the duration.
⚠️ Leave is registered in whole days. Weekends and public holidays are not included.
4. Sick leave
Sick leave can be registered as a daily entry or for a period. Hourly registration can be enabled if standard hours are set up.
In France, sick days may be covered by the employer at the start of the illness period and then by national sick pay depending on the rules.
⚠️ Weekends and public holidays do not count as sick days.
5. Work hours and time registration
When France is selected, no time registration method is activated automatically.
The administrator must manually choose between:
Time registration without hour bank
Time registration with hour bank
⚠️ The choice depends on whether work hours are accumulated as a balance or only documented.
Important
The standard setup is based on common practice in France.
Companies with collective agreements or special arrangements must adjust the policies manually.
