2. Supplementary balances
Supplementary balances are used for extra days off in addition to statutory vacation. These are not created automatically when selecting a country.
Typical terms in England / Wales may include:
Supplementary balance | Add in BitaBIZ |
Additional annual leave | Yes |
Extra leave days | Yes |
TOIL (Time Off In Lieu) | Yes |
Company leave days | Yes |
The period, earning, and settlement depend on the company’s agreement. See functional
3. Other leave – Standard English / Welsh leave types
The 'Other leave' module is used for longer-term or special types of leave.
Leave types | Affects vacation earning | Requires approval |
Maternity leave | No | Yes |
Paternity leave | No | Yes |
Parental leave | No | Yes |
Unpaid leave | Company determined | Yes |
Compassionate leave | No | Yes |
Maternity and paternity leave usually do not affect vacation earning. Unpaid leave may reduce vacation earning.
⚠️ Leave is registered in whole days. Weekends and public holidays are not included.
4. Sick leave
Sick leave can be registered as a single day or a period. Hourly registration can be enabled if standard hours are set up.
⚠️ In the UK, sick leave may be linked to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) depending on the company’s payroll setup.
5. Work hours and time registration
When selecting England / Wales, no time registration method is activated automatically.
The administrator must manually choose between:
Time registration without hour bank
Time registration with hour bank
⚠️ The choice depends on whether work hours are accumulated as a balance or only documented.
Important
The standard setup is based on common practice in England and Wales.
Companies with collective agreements or special arrangements must adjust the policies manually.
