Reimbursement of absence – how it works

When an employee is absent due to sickness, parental leave, adoption, or flex job arrangements, the company may apply for reimbursement of salary costs from the municipality or a relevant fund (e.g. DI Barsel).

Reimbursement can be handled in two ways:

  1. Manually via Virk.dk

  2. Automatically through BitaBIZ’s integration with MinRefusion

1. Manual reimbursement

When you report manually via Virk.

Use this method if you do not have the integration enabled.

How to do it:

BitaBIZ is used as the data source – the actual application is submitted in NemRefusion.

2. Automatic reimbursement

When reimbursement is handled automatically.

BitaBIZ customers can automate the entire reimbursement process through our integration with MinRefusion.

The integration transfers reimbursement-eligible absence data directly from BitaBIZ to the reimbursement system via MinRefusion, allowing reimbursement applications to be submitted digitally to NemRefusion.

How to activate the integration

  • Navigate to: Setup admin → Company → Subscription plan

  • Enable BitaBIZ API and save

  • Copy the API key

  • Log in to MinRefusion

  • Insert the API key in the setup form in MinRefusion

Once the integration is activated, absence data is automatically transferred to MinRefusion, where the system handles reimbursement applications digitally.
